Yamaha Oil Change Kit Selection Chart
Yamaha Recommends the use of Yamaha Genuine Oil in any Yamaha Outboard as these oils were designed with these engines in mind and have added the necessary additives to extend the life of your outboard.
There are (3) current engine oil types
5W30 - Synthetic - Was designated for use in the HO engines (VMax SHO). This oil can be used in all engines produced by Yamaha in both the Northern and Southern areas
10W30 - Mineral Base (Conventional) - Is designated for use in All Yamaha Outboards but is recommended for use in the Northern states where air and water temperatures have a more varied ambient range
20W40 - Mineral Base (Conventional) - Is designated for use in All Yamaha Outboards but is recommended for use in the Southern states where the air and water temperatures have an elevated ambient range.
